The Providence Bruins secured a 5-4 victory against the Bridgeport Islanders in a closely contested matchup.

The Bridgeport Islanders (8-17-2-0), the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, faced a 5-4 defeat against the Providence Bruins (15-12-2-2) at Total Mortgage Arena on Wednesday night. The game saw goals from four different scorers.

Karson Kuhlman, Dennis Cholowski, Brian Pinho, and Robin Salo all contributed to the scoring, showcasing a variety of talents. Jakub Skarek (3-13-2) made 17 saves before Ken Appleby took over in the third period. Kuhlman's second-period goal, a remarkable drive through traffic, was a particular highlight.

Despite outshooting the Bruins 37-25, the Islanders' record against Providence dropped to 1-5-0-0 this season.

The Bruins took the lead at the 14:52 mark of the first period with Georgii Merkulov's 14th goal of the season. The Islanders responded three minutes later with Brian Pinho's tying goal.

The second period was eventful, with Bridgeport taking the lead through Kuhlman's impressive one-on-one move against Bruins defenseman Dan Renouf. Although Providence tied the game, Bridgeport quickly answered with Dennis Cholowski's goal.

In the third period, Providence secured the lead with goals from Michael Callahan and Anthony Richard. Richard added another goal, extending the Bruins' lead. Robin Salo scored for the Islanders, bringing them within one with 1:22 left in the game.

Jacob Pivonka and Trevor Cosgrove made their AHL season debuts for the Islanders after being recalled from the Worcester Railers (ECHL) earlier in the day.
